In the latest sign that the Plan for Academic Enrichment may be paying off, Brown leapfrogged four places in the latest U.S. News & World Reportcollege rankings, from last year’s seventeenth spot to thirteenth.… Professor of Family Medicine Charles Eaton is using a new, $1.6 million super-detailed MRImachine to find the causes of knee osteoarthritis; the Brain Science Programalso hopes to use the machine for research this fall.… The Brown Orchestra won a second-place award from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers(ASCAP) for contemporary-music programming.… Katey Mirch ’06 finished first among women for the second consecutive year in the annual Save the Bay 1.7-mile swim across Narragansett Bay.… Peter Vezeridis ’02, a third-year Brown medical student, received a Fulbright Fellowshipto conduct research in the Netherlands.
