The Corporation set next year's tuition at $24,624 - an increase of 4.3 percent, the lowest in more than 30 years; total undergraduate charges for next year will be $32,280, a 3.9-percent increase....Professor of Geological Sciences Jan A. Tullis received the 1998 Outstanding Educator Award from the Association for Women Geoscientists for her research, her teaching, and her advocacy on behalf of women in science....The family of Timory Hyde '97, who died in a fall from a third-story window at an off-campus party in April 1997, established a scholarship in her name to fund internships in music or the creative arts....Former President Vartan Gregorian accepted New School University's first University in Exile Award on behalf of slain Visiting Professor Galina Staravoitova in New York City in January....The usual yawn-inspiring atmosphere of the campus faculty meeting was disrupted in Feburary when the Brown Derbies sprinted into the lower Salomon auditorium to offer up an a capella version of "Happy Birthday" to President E. Gordon Gee.
