The death of Professor of Political Science and East Asian studies Edward Beiser prompted former students to post personal responses to the November/December Farewell by Beiser student and former Clinton speechwriter Jeff Shesol '91. Beiser's Introduction to Political Science "was a revelation of clear thinking and logic," wrote Stephen Meister '76. And the memories did not only come from Brown students. "At a time in my life when I was in dire need of direction," Stephen Zecher wrote, "Ed became the older brother I had never had.... I owe a great deal to Ed for his guidance and leadership. I will always remember his kindness, sense of humor, zest for life, and profound goodness."
