Math Problem

February 28th, 2013

In the January/February Classes article about Kathy Neset ’78 titled “Oil Boom,” you describe the Bakken layer of rock as being “tens of thousands of miles in diameter.” That seems to be an exaggeration, considering the earth is less than eight thousand miles in diameter. Clearly, the article was not sent to Brown’s Department of Geological Sciences for review prior to publication.
