An Honor

July 30th, 2007

My late husband, Burr Benedict ’49, and I always looked forward to every issue of the BAM, which continues to portray the ebb and flow of changes and ideas in the University community.

I was pleased to see in the magazine’s pages that Brown had honored military veterans at a special Veterans Day ceremony (Elms, January/February). I hope that this will again become a regular practice. As a society and a nation, we often do not realize the sacrifices made by the men and women who fight and serve in the armed forces, and also by their families. Burr served in World War II in the European and Pacific theaters and attended Brown on the G.I. Bill. He considered it an honor and a privilege that he was afforded that opportunity. I look forward to receiving future issues of the Brown Alumni Magazine.
