About 150 Providence residents, including many Brown students, took part in a candlelight vigil to honor Cornel Young Jr., a black Providence police sergeant who was shot to death on January 28 when fellow officers mistook him for a suspect....In a study published by the New England Journal of Medicine, Brown researchers report that defibrillators outperform drugs in fending off cardiac arrest by 76 percent....In January, after months of pressure by student groups, Champion, GEAR, JanSport, and other University apparel providers disclosed the locations of their factories.... Nine Irish artists displayed their work in Brown’s Bell Gallery as part of A Measured Quietude: Contemporary Irish Drawings....The Brown chapter of Habitat for Humanity is building a new home for three local families.
