Brown's Computing and Information Services announced that the year 2000 should come and go without a computer glitch, thanks to a $4 million investment to replace obsolete software and hardware in the school's major computing systems....Emergency Medical Services retired its ambulance, an eight-year veteran, for a newer model....One of Brown's most popular concentrations, Organizational Behavior and Management, has been replaced by a new course of study titled Public and Private Sector Organizations....The Education Alliance at Brown received $1.2 million from the U.S. Department of Education to increase the number of Southeast-Asian teachers in Rhode Island and help serve this underrepresented population in the school system....A four-year, $1.4 million grant to Brown from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute will support education and research programs in the biological sciences....Lucia Trimbur '97, the first recipient of the Vincent A. Cianci Jr. Urban Scholarship, published a forty-page report examining partnerships between the University and local public schools....After a decade of inactivity, Brown Student Radio (BSR) reappeared on the local dial last year by buying time from the Wheeler School station, WEHL, at 88.1 FM....In October, listener complaints prompted the Wheeler School's cancellation of BSR's "Loveline," a call-in show about love, sex, and relationships.
