Every morning between November 12 and December 14 of last year, artist Pam Hall awoke in her house in Newfoundland, Canada, wrote a wish or prayer down on a strip of linen, and hung it on a small tree nearby. "It reminded her to begin each day mindfully and with full attention," her Web site claims. This winter she brought all of the linen strips to the Brown campus for a display at the Brown-RISD Hillel Gallery. Above, some of the Canadian artist's friends simultaneously read aloud from Hall's work as part of a site-specific performance. Hall titled the installation A Wish and a Prayer.
