Just two months into their season, the Bears had compiled six victories, more than they managed all of last year. Much of the credit goes to freshman goalie Dan Rosen ’10, the nation’s leading goaltender in both save percentage (.957) and goals-against average (1.44). The Eastern College Athletic Conference has twice honored Miller, the first time in early December as the Rookie of the Week and a week later as Goalie of the Week.

Brown also staged an upset in late November by beating Harvard, 2–1, in Cambridge. The Crimson was widely considered one of the best teams in the nation, while Brown had been picked to finish last in ECAC play this year. The win was the Bears’ first against Harvard since 2004.

The Harvard victory also marked Head Coach Roger Grillo’s 100th career win since arriving at the University in 1997. Only one other Brown men’s hockey coach has achieved such a record, James Fullerton, who guided the program from 1956 to 1970.
