This summer, English wildlife sculptor Nick Bibby and his assistants readied Indomitable, Brown’s newest—and largest—bear statue for its debut on campus this fall. The life-sized bronze sculpture of Brown’s mascot, the Kodiak Island grizzly, was cast at England’s Pangolin Editions Foundry and will be installed on Ittleson Quad by the entrance to the Nelson Fitness Center. Bibby is reknowned for his hyper-realistic attention to detail, and at eleven feet tall, with claws like spikes, Indomitable makes the other bears on campus look positively cuddly. He (and he is male) brings the number of bear sculptures on campus to five. Do you know where the others are?
