The men’s Ultimate Frisbee team, Brownian Motion, claimed its first national championship title since 2000 this spring when it defeated Colorado, 15–14, in the finals of the Ultimate Players Association National Championships on May 29. Brownian Motion, which spun into the tournament ranked third in the country, had gone undefeated since March 20.… Only the women’s rowing team could consider a third-place finish at the NCAA championships a letdown. The Bears entered the tournament on Lake Natoma in Sacramento, California, as defending champions, having won four of the last six crowns. Unfortunately, Brown’s chances of repeating were sunk after the varsity-eight boat failed to qualify for the grand final. The Bears did not walk away empty-handed, though: Meg Anderson ’06 was named First Team All-American, while Catherine Starr ’05 made the Second Team.… Craig Lake, the women’s cross-country head coach who led Columbia to three straight Heptagonal championships between 2002 and 2004, was named Brown’s director of cross-country and track & field.
