Mens Lacrosse

Mens lacrosse had a bounce-back season in its first year under head coach Lars Tiffany 90. After going 211 last season, the Bears started the season on a roll. After losing in overtime to the always tough University of Maryland Baltimore County the men reeled off four straight wins and, after a 134 win over Vermont on March 27, reached their highest national ranking of the year at eighteen. Brown came back to the pack during the latter stages of the season, however, losing to stiff Ivy competition, including Cornell, which was ranked first in the league. Among the squads standouts this year were attackmen David Madeira 07 and Thomas Muldoon 10.

Womens Lacrosse

Judged simply by its 410 record, the 2007 womens lacrosse team would appear to have had a disappointing season. But in fact the Bears have made great strides while playing some of the toughest competition in the nation. The squad opened its season at number-one-ranked UNC Chapel Hill, then traveled to College Park to play number-three Maryland two weeks later. The team managed to remain competitive by relying on the stellar play of Mimi DeTolla 08, who led the team in both goals and points. The Bears also enjoyed a breakout season from Lauren Vitkus 09, who scored seventeen goals on just twenty-nine shots. With most of their big scorers returning for next season, womens lacrosse should improve in 2008.
