Sidney Frank’s gift is not the only one to turn heads on campus this fall. Chancellor Emeritus Artemis A. W. Joukowsky ’55 and his wife, Professor Emerita of Old World Archaeology and Art Martha Sharp Joukowsky ’58, gave an eight-figure gift to establish and endow the Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, which will allow the University to expand its program in that area and to attract new faculty members. And three alumni gave a combined $20 million toward a new fitness center, which students have identified as one of the amenities they’d most like to see added to campus. University Trustee Jonathan Nelson ’77, the founder and CEO of Providence Equity Partners, contributed a lead gift of $10 million, and the remaining $10 million came from Trustee Emeritus Fredric Garonzik ’64, who is retired from Goldman Sachs, and from another donor and trustee, who chose to give anonymously.
