Jedediah Scher writes: “I married my sweetheart, Frances Jessup Backus, on December 10, 2022, in Washington, D.C. Several alumni celebrated with us, including groomsmen Matthew “Tucker” Korte ’01 and Jeffrey Sato ’99 and dear friends William Gaynor II ’99, Douglas Kezirian, and Ward Richmond. Unable to attend but with us in spirit were John Reimers and Victoria Barbata Reimers ’03. It was a perfect day and we will treasure the memories forever.”
Amanda Freeman published Getting Me Cheap: How Low-Wage Work Traps Women and Girls in Poverty in November with the New Press. The book explores how America traps millions of women and their children into lives of stunted opportunity and poverty in service of giving others of us the lives we seek.
Cassidy Puckett published Redefining Geek: Bias and the Five Hidden Habits of Tech-Savvy Teens with University of Chicago Press. In Redefining Geek, Cassidy overturns the stereotypes around the digitally savvy and identifies the habits that can help everyone cultivate their inner geek.
Carlos Lejnieks writes that there was a great Brown attendance at the late Vartan Gregorian’s memorial service in New York City in April. The international law firm of Holland & Knight LLP has expanded its Corporate, M&A and Securities practice with the addition of John Devine as a partner in its Philadelphia office. Prior to joining Holland & Knight, John was a partner with Ballard Spahr LLP, where he served as coleader of the firm’s health care group.

Louise Vitiello Burroughs writes: “Mel (my husband of 52 years) and I just moved to a new home in Whispering Woods, an over-55 community in Middletown, Delaware, where we are just three miles from our daughter Rachel and her family (Dr. Greg Cannon, her daughters Brooklyn and Hazel, his son and daughter, and their three gorgeous ragdoll cats). This is the first new house we have ever lived in and we are enjoying its proximity to family and to woods, as well as its ease of living with all essentials on one floor. Our son Nathan ’00 lives with his wife Meaghan Benante Burroughs and their three children (Ava, Myles, and Preston) in Madison, New Jersey. Ava is a freshman at the Northfield Mount Hermon School, where she is on the crew team and has been cast with a speaking/singing role in the school play. During the COVID crisis we developed the ability to work remotely and so Mel and I are still able to work full-time. I work as senior vice president for development for CSMI, LLC, a charter school consulting company in Chester, Pennsylvania, and Mel works for Chester Community Charter School. I hope to attend our 55th reunion in May 2022. I missed our 50th because I had been in a car accident earlier in the spring. I am mostly healed from that trauma but will work out this winter to be ready to walk up College Hill.”

Michael Rubin writes: “In May, I was formally presented with the 2020 Massachusetts High School Principal of the Year award, given annually by the Massachusetts School Administrators Association. I humbly accepted the award with my parents and family and our incredible faculty in attendance. I also had the privilege of presenting on the topic of school redesign through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) integration, specifically looking at how our Innovation Pathway programs have improved overall metrics for learning across the school. While the pandemic continues to provide new challenges every day, the work remains exciting. We are always looking for new partners to bolster our students’ connections to the ‘real-world,’ so reach out if you have any interest in working with our staff!”
Stiliana Milkova published Elena Ferrante as World Literature with Bloomsbury Academic. The book is the first English language monograph on contemporary Italian writer Elena Ferrante, whose four Neapolitan Novels became a global phenomenon.
B.J. Perlmutt writes that his Netflix documentary ReMastered: Massacre at the Stadium was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Historical Documentary category. The documentary is part of a larger series created by Jeff Zimbalist ’00. Sam Cullman ’99 also directed a film in the series, ReMastered: The Lion’s Share, which was nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary category.
Ricardo Wilson published The Nigrescent Beyond: Mexico, the United States, and the Psychic Vanishing of Blackness with Northwestern University Press. In the book, he explores the psychic vanishing of Blackness within the collective imagination of the Mexican nation and thinks through how this work might nurture related discourses within the field of a United States facing Black studies.
Mark de Silva published his essay collection called Points of Attack. In it, he examines issues in America such as technological evolution, terrorism, the individual’s place in a globalized society, and more.
Seth Andrew and his wife, Lana Zak, welcomed their third and final child in 2018. Seth writes: “Lana is an anchor at CBS and I’m launching new social enterprises at the intersection of technology, democracy, and education with DemocracyBuilders.org. Cassidy Puckett received her PhD in sociology from Northwestern University and is an assistant professor at Emory University. She conducts research on the relationship between technological change and inequality in education, occupations, and health care. She published a solo-authored study in Harvard Educational Review called “CS4Some? Differences in Technology Learning Readiness” about new educational policies concerning computer science education. She is currently working on a book under advance contract related to this topic.
Rowan Paul and Naomi Ture are still living in the Bay Area. Naomi had a big year with her docuseries Pick of the Litter launching on Disney+, and her other doc, Blessed Child, premiered at Doc NYC. After a decade as a partner in an orthopedic group in San Francisco, Rowan has decided to launch his own regenerative sports medicine and orthopedics practice to allow him to stay at the cutting edge and innovate freely. He continues to be involved with several startups, including a wearable robotic exoskeleton company and a neuromodulation device for chronic pain. Rowan writes; “Our son, Teilan, now 5, is growing up to be a sweet, musical, happy boy.”
Spencer and Bethany Blanchard Haller dated all four years at Brown and tied the knot in Manning Chapel the August after graduation. They celebrated with family, friends, and classmates at the Faculty Club and heard that some enjoyed a post-wedding celebration at the Grad Center Bar. The Hallers live with their three active children in East Longmeadow, Mass. Spencer is a primary care physician and Bethany owns a yoga and meditation studio. Bethany writes: “Our family’s story began with meeting at Brown, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts.”
Sarah Johnson Atunah-Jay ’07 MD writes: “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years. I live in Minnesota with my sweet husband and three phenomenal children. I am an assistant professor of pediatrics at Mayo Clinic, where I conduct community-based participatory research on bias and discrimination and early childhood literacy.”

Becky Bleifeld Black and Matt Black ’91 are still living in Paris. Becky writes: “We originally came for my job at the NBA, fast-forward 15 years and we’ve started a nonprofit, Rock U. (www.rock-u.fr), that brings kids together from all over the world to learn responsibility, confidence, and teamwork by playing rock music together. Brunonians whose kids are part of the past and present Rock U. family include Anne Beale ’84, Nicole Williams Roland ’88, Johnny Stein ’88, and Laura Voorhees Victoir ’00. We’ve had innumerable Brown alums stop by as they pass through Paris; please look us up next time you’re here!”
Linda Peters writes: “I can’t believe I turned 60 in January. In October, I transitioned to a newly created position as director of older adult programs—how appropriate. As part of my job, I run the Kelvyn Park Senior Satellite Center and I’m still doing development work, but now focused on our older adult programs. I’m also in my first year of an Ed.D. program in Higher Education Leadership at National Louis University.”
Cindy Limawararut Gunja writes: “My husband, Mushtaq Gunja, appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy! on October 24. I posted to the Brown class of 2000 Facebook group, too. Mushtaq makes this the third Brown ’00 alum to compete on Jeopardy! in the last year, joining Adam F. Watkins and Cristina Somolinos Morales. Exciting times! We’re both looking forward to our 20th reunion this May.”
Jesse Rissman married Sara Wilson on May 25 in Topanga, Calif. Jesse continues to teach and direct a memory research lab at UCLA, where he was promoted to associate professor of psychology and psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences. His wife, Sara, is the founder of SW Projects, a content and digital strategy consultancy. They reside in Culver City with Jesse’s two boys Mateo, 11, and Joaquin, 8. Amanda Ciafone, professor at the University of Illinois, published Counter-Cola: A Multinational History of the Global Corporation, in April. She writes: “It’s a scholarly book but uses a popular topic, The Coca-Cola Company, to tell the history of global capitalism and its critiques for a generalist audience.”
Gloria Markoff Winston writes: “Since 2008 I have been living at Laurelmead. I have spent my winters in Palm Beach, Florida, since 1982 and fully returned to Providence (no more ‘snow birding’) in 2015. I have everything I need in life except Florida sunshine so I take my vitamin D pills every day. I play duplicate bridge every week and join the poker game at night and still find time to volunteer at Miriam Hospital. Many of my life-long friends that I followed to Laurelmead are no longer here, but I am surrounded by new friends, many of whom are also members of the Brown family, including Paul Alexander ’67, ’69 ScM; Janet McWain Colby ’60; Rosemary Mizener Colt ’84 PhD; Abraham Ehrenhaus ’45; Marilyn Silverman Ehrenhaus ’49; Deborah Mulcare ’68; John Schultz ’62 ScM,’68 PhD; Daniel Siegel ’57; Eugene Weinberg ’51; Robert Wood ’58; Louise Wood ’75 MAT; and Lucinda Dohanian-Welch ’00. Anne Berchenko Weisholtz and Steven Weisholtz announce the wedding of their son, Daniel ’02 to YunXiang Chu on June 10, 2018, in Copake Lake, N.Y. In attendance were Boris Abromov ’00; Daniel Ko ’01; George Kong ’02, ’03 ScM; Eric Snyder ’03; and Cara Zeldis Snyder ’03. Daniel is a neurologist with a specialty in epilepsy at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
John O’Brien and Anne Murphy O’Brien were happy to see their son Bill O’Brien ’92 selected as Brown’s chosen honoree at the Ivy Football Association dinner in New York City this past January. About 150 Brunonians were in attendance, including Brown’s new football coach, James Perry ’00. John writes, “We continue to stay in touch with our Naples, Florida friends, including Don Diciccio, who seems to be hard at work on improving his golf game.” John and Anne look forward to the 65th Reunion in 2020, which they hope will be well attended.

Amit is the lead U.S. restructuring lawyer and the global head of resolution planning and bank structure for Barclays.
Carlos Lejnieks ’00 was awarded the American Express Leadership Academy Alumni Award at a Global Alumni Summit in New York City on April 16. Selected from nonprofit executives from around the world, this annual award names the top social sector leader of the year and carries a $25,000 donation to the winner’s organization.
Ben Holzer ’00 and Rochelle Lundy celebrated their wedding on June 30 at Alden and Harlow in Cambridge, Mass. The wedding was held over brunch and included Jesse Chan-Norris ’99, Christopher Creed ’00, Wendy Derjue-Holzer ’96, Matt Holzer ’96, and Jonathan Perez ’00.

Linda Xochitl Tortolero was named president and CEO of Mujeres Latinas en Acción, the longest-standing Latina women’s organization in the nation, based in Chicago. She formally began her tenure on Sept. 18, 2017. Under Linda’s leadership, Mujeres Latinas en Acción will continue to advocate for and address the immediate needs facing Latina women and their families in the Chicagoland area and identify and implement effective solutions.
Jesse Rissman was selected as a Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences for 2018. Jesse works as an assistant professor of psychology and psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at UCLA.
Jamaica Maxwell and Nelson Mitchell welcomed Zora Eiko Maxwell Mitchell on Aug. 20, 2017. She joins big brother Enso, who started kindergarten in fall 2017.
Aimee Maxted Morin writes: “We welcomed our second child on a snowy Mother’s Day: May 10, 2015. Life has been full of fun since then, enjoying Colorado as a family of four. Stop by if you’re visiting the Rocky Mountain State.”

I am in my first term serving on Nashville’s Metro Council, to which I was elected in 2015. I am also working on innovative learning technologies for Rustici Software.”

Alice Kang writes: “After doing Peace Corps and working in Washington, D.C., I earned a PhD in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and am now an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My book, Bargaining for Women’s Rights: Activism in an Aspiring Muslim Democracy, came out this year from the University of Minnesota Press. It looks beyond stereotypes to explain the failures and successes of women’s rights politics in the Muslim world.”

Bradley Albert writes: “Azimyth Creation Studio, founded by myself and Justin Morris, partnered with Tom Scott ’89 (of Nantucket Nectars fame) and his incredible company, The Nantucket Project, to capture a unique moment in presidential history. Our team was in Africa filming an inspirational documentary in virtual reality, and we were invited to attend President Obama’s speech in Nairobi, Kenya. We were able to capture the energy and excitement in full virtual reality using highly specialized video cameras and microphones. This marks the first time since FDR made his appearance on TV during the World's Fair in 1939 that a president has been filmed in a completely new medium. The level of immersion that is this style of film is transformative.”

Sarah Bridger’s Scientists at War: The Ethics of Cold War Weapons Research was published by Harvard Univ. Press. She writes that the book is a “poignant history of the ethical battles that wracked the scientific communities in the United States, from the Sputnik boom of the 1950s through the contentious years of the Vietnam War, and culminating in the Reagan-era battles over Star Wars.” She is an assistant professor of U.S. history at California Polytechnic State Univ. in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

I was one of four founding attorneys of the firm when it opened its doors in July 2012. I was the only associate at the time, and I remain the only female attorney for the time being. I represent clients with business and investment interests in Florida, Puerto Rico, and other jurisdictions in the United States, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and my practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, asset-backed financings, bank transactions, and general corporate and commercial advisory matters. I particularly enjoy representing investors, entrepreneurs, and start-up companies in the areas of technology, renewable energy, and other green industries. I had the chance to work with a Miami-based technology services company that provides turnkey payment technology solutions for stored value account and prepaid card services, which is a cutting-edge and rapidly evolving field these days. Linda Xochitl Tortolero cocurated an art exhibition entitled "Rastros y Cronicas: Women of Juarez" at the National Museum of Mexican Art. The exhibition includes diverse artistic mediums from Mexican and Mexican American women artists that serve as a chronicle of the struggles of Mexican women and the grievous deaths in Ciudad Ju√°rez, Mexico, which have totaled more than 500 since 1993.
Adam F. Watkins, Louise K. Francois Watkins, and their 19-month-old son Oliver moved back to Boston (Roslindale, to be precise). Louise has started her first year of internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess. Adam hangs out with Oliver and continues to work at Watkins, Bradley & Chen, a law firm handling federal appellate litigation. The Watkins are happy to be back in New England and look forward to the 10th reunion.

Kristen Michalopoulos Haddon and her husband, Ben, announce the November 19 birth of their son, Henry. He was born at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Me., where Kristen is a pediatric resident.
Kavita Parikh and Shantanu Agrawal '98 announce the May 25, 2007 birth of daughter Ashika Parikh Agrawal. Kavita works as a pediatric hospital attending physician at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and Shantanu is finishing his last year of emergency medicine residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Though they are tired parents, they love every minute of it.
Harumi Supit married Sinartus Sosrodjojo (Occidental College '97) in November. Lisa Onaga was present at the impromptu wedding. Harumi has finally switched over to a writing career and is much happier. Harumi writes: "We plan to live in Jakarta, where Sinartus's photography agency is located, the only one in the country. Amol Mhatre writes that after almost eight years, Sarah DiGregorio ’02 has succumbed to Stockholm Syndrome and agreed to marry him. He has also coerced her and her neurotic dog, Jack, into living with him in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Ross Mueller received his PhD in clinical psychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in 2006 and recently accepted a position as an assistant professor in the psychology department at Point Loma Nazarene Univ. in San Diego. He teaches research methods and clinical theory. His research focuses on moral and spiritual development.
Jesse Rissman and Anita Zamora announce the September 2, 2007, birth of their son, Mateo Nadav Rissman, in San Francisco. Jesse received his PhD in psychology from UC Berkeley in May and is a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford, where he conducts functional brain imaging studies of human memory. Anita is the clinical program coordinator at the Women’s Community Clinic in San Francisco and is completing a master’s program at the UC San Francisco School of Nursing.
Carolyn Cohan Simon announces the April 10, 2007, birth of her son, E.J. Robert Simon. She writes: “He was born 7 lbs. 11 oz. and is a healthy baby boy! We are still living in the Philadelphia area.”

Katharine Haynes Gulde is the newly appointed professor of flute at Messiah College near Harrisburg, Pa. Katharine is also active as a freelance artist, performing with Lancaster Symphony, Pottstown Symphony, Wilmington String Ensemble, and Elan Artists of New York City. Her international performances include playing at the Kirche Bad Schmiedeberg near Wittenberg, Germany, and the Conservatorio Mozart in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Katharine’s upcoming events include playing for the Moscow Ballet in December. She earned a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the Peabody Conservatory in 2005, and she has been the flute teacher at the Lehigh Valley Community Music School for three years. Her husband, Ingo (Purdue ’05 MBA), is currently a senior consultant at Technidata America.

Tracy Lemos writes: “On July 14th I married the fabulous Andrea Stevenson Allen (BA, Northwestern ’01; MTS, Harvard Divinity School ’03; current Harvard doctoral student in anthropology) at Memorial Church on Harvard’s campus. Jennifer Bloustine served as ring bearer and Matthew Neujahr ’98 did a reading. Brown Professor of Judaic Studies Saul Olyan, my undergraduate mentor, was also in attendance, as were many Yalies and Northwestern grads. As I was giving a paper a week later at the SBL conference in Vienna, we decided to honeymoon in Austria and Hungary, where we did much sightseeing and drank much beer and wine. I am finishing up my dissertation and degree at Yale and will begin teaching at Boston Univ. in the fall.”

John Rego, a Live Earth environmental advisor, recently helped organize an around-the-world July 7 concert promoting environmental awareness. Along with a team of 12, he tailored different recycling and power-saving systems to each location in order to accommodate the flow of mass crowds.

We had a wonderful natural birth experience at a birth center near our home in Silver Spring, Md. Talia’s grandparents, including Andy ’73 and Barb Doerr Benson ’73, adore her. When not skillfully shushing his daughter to sleep, Tom is a trial attorney at the Department of Justice doing environmental enforcement work. I received my master’s in social work in May from the University of Maryland and for now am staying home with Talia. We are all doing great.”

Aimee Maxted and Joshua Morin were married in Westport, Mass., on Aug. 19, a lovely summer day. Shortly after their honeymoon in Bermuda, the newlyweds moved to Philadelphia, where Aimee continues to pursue her career in nursing at UPenn in the master’s program and Josh advances his career as an arborist with Barlett Tree Experts. They can’t wait to buy a new home on the Main Line.

Elizabeth and Marty are living in Cleveland while Marty finishes law school. Elizabeth is an adviser with the public sector branch of EquaTerra, a consulting firm.

Cybulski Jr., after being deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq for two separate tours with the Army’s 82nd airborne division, began work on a PhD in microbiology at the Uniformed Services Univ. in fall 2004 and expects to complete his doctorate in 2008. He is engaged to Shannon Gilmore (Univ. of Utah, JD Thomas Jefferson School of Law, San Diego). A May 2007 wedding is planned.

Brad Mak moved to New York City to join a health-care private equity firm after spending three and a half years in San Francisco with Genentech’s strategic planning group.
Katie Mcknight reports that Rachel Anderson was awarded the Female Athlete of the Year award by U.S. Rowing: “For those outside of the rowing world, this is an outstanding honor. This past summer, Rachel qualified for the Olympics in 2004.”

Sara Boyd Payne writes: “On Feb. 29, I will be running the Mardi Gras marathon as part of the National AIDS Marathon Training Program. As part of my participation, I will be raising money for the Whitman-Walker AIDS clinic here in Washington, D.C. Todd Strochlic, of Philadelphia, has completed his third year at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School and has been accepted to the joint Ph.D.–D.V.M. program at the university.
Eli A. Wolff writes: “I have been selected to the United States National Soccer Team, which competed in the Paralympic Soccer World Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Oct. 9–23, 2003. The tournament is the qualifier for the soccer competition of the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games.”

The Casey V. Shearer Courtyard was dedicated on campus on Friday, October 10. The courtyard, outside the Faunce House mail room, features a fountain designed by world-renowned artist Howard Ben Tre. A reception was then held featuring food and drink from Casey’s favorite College Hill eatery, Spike’s Junkyard Dogs. The courtyard was built with support from the Winnick Family Foundation and the class of 2000.
Kimberly Barclay Martin writes: “I married Dan Martin (Rice ’98) on Jan. 4, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. It was a small but beautiful ceremony. Brown alumni in attendance included Teresa Busam, Stephanie Nichols-Smith, and Marilyn Nourse. Dan and I are in our fourth year of medical school.”
Caron Nelsen and Joshua Jacobson were married on Aug. 16 on Long Island with many of their classmates in attendance.
Dan O’Donnell, of Los Angeles, married Gina Roth (Washington Univ. ’00) on July 12. The ceremony was held at the St. Regis Hotel in Los Angeles. Dan will be attending the Marshall School of Business at USC on a full merit-based fellowship, while his wife will be attending Southwestern Law School.

Michael Rymer married Rachel Hall ’99 on July 26, in Atlanta. In attendance were Jon Cohen, Sharif Corinaldi, Celia Garner ’99, Keri Goldberg ’01, Sarah Halpert ’99, Joe Kaneko, Nora Rosenberg ’01, Susan Rymer, and Benjamin Smith. This fall Rachel will begin her fifth year teaching sixth grade at the Maritime Academy in the Bronx, and Michael will begin an M.F.A. program at Sarah Lawrence.
Eli Wolff will compete with the United States National Soccer Team in the Paralympic Soccer World Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 9-23. The Buenos Aires competition is the qualifying round for the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games.

Robin Farkas Weintraub writes: “Benjamin Weintraub ’98, ’02 M.D. and I were married earlier this year in Rhode Island. Rabbi Alan Flam officiated. The wedding party included Ryan Baker, Leah Bloom, Ali Scheps ’98, Glenn Strauss ’97, and Claire Workman. In attendance were Sara Boyd Payne, Debra Hillier ’02 M.D., Jeff Potter, Mike Weiss ’95, and Todd Yellin ’98.”
Eli A. Wolff competed in September as a member of the U.S. Paralympic Team in the Pan Am Soccer Championships for the Disabled. He reports that the team finished third, behind Brazil and Argentina.

Carlos Lejnieks has been named vice president of CN Communications International Inc. in Rahway, N.J., Carlos was previously a policy adviser to the governor of New Jersey, dealing with such issues as economic development, cultural affairs, and the state's post-September 11 recovery efforts.

Andrew Barlow writes that he published a humor piece in the May 20 New Yorker. Barlow edited Brown's humor magazine for two years, overseeing its renascence as the Brown Jug. He and Kent Roberts are at work on a humor book.
Thomas F. O'Connell writes that he returned to Tennessee after graduation to pursue a job offer with a Web technology firm, Monster Labs Inc. Thomas writes: "After deciding that I could do a better job representing individual citizens than could the current set of legislators, I launched a campaign for the state House of Representatives on April 3. Whitney Boon '99 is my campaign coordinator."
Eli Wolff was part of the U.S. Paralympic Soccer Team to capture the CP Tournament title in the Netherlands. He led the way for the United States with a goal and an assist. He continues to train for the Pan-American Championship in September. A first-place finish in the tournament would guarantee the United States a berth in the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games.

Steve Pyle and Meredith Mostel (RISD '99) were married on March 17 in Cedar Hurst, N.Y. In attendance were Jeff Starr '98, Kate Angus '98, Freya Rand '99, Eli Goodman '99, Scott Leiser '99, Rick Dittman '00, and John Keranakis '98. Steve is a high school English teacher in Suffern, N.Y., and a freelance writer, while Meredith is a clothing designer for Michael Simon Inc. in Manhattan. The couple live in Monsey, N.Y.

Paul Grellong's rock musical Hot Star, Nebraska completed a four-week run in March at Boston's Center for the Arts. Grellong wrote most of the script, music, and lyrics while at Brown, where a previous version of the show was put on at Production Workshop. Miriam Silverman '01 and Ben Steinfeld '01 reprised their roles as a couple trying to make it big and escape a small town.
Rob Scholl announces his engagement to Elyse Gottschang. They are planning an Aug. 17 wedding in Springfield, Ohio.

Obituaries
Jason M. Brennen ’00, of Chicago; Apr. 3. He began his career in advertising in Manhattan before taking time to teach English in China. He returned to Chicago and worked in advertising with Hyatt, Inc. He later devoted his career to mental health and social policy at Northwestern University, ending his career at Chapin-Hall, University of Chicago, as a senior policy analyst. He is survived by his wife, Frances; his parents; a sister; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.
Amanda Hertig Cullinan ’00, of Summerfield, N.C.; May 10, of breast cancer. She coached lacrosse at North Guilford High School and enjoyed showing her children how life should be lived by enjoying every minute. She is survived by her husband, Justin; three children; her father; a sister; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
