In April, 767 admitted students invaded campus for A Day on College Hill (ADOCH), which lasts three days, to get a closer look at Brown campus life. (The University admitted 8.5 percent of about 30,400 applicants for the class of 2019.) After a welcome from President Paxson and Dean of Admissions Jim Miller ’73, a variety of student groups helped the campus guests escape their parents by treating them to such things as salsa workshops and a capella “arch” sings under the Wayland and Morris-Champlin arches. On the academic side, the prospective Bears were able to participate in an “ADOCH Shopping Period” by visiting classes and lectures and by listening to three keynote lectures by professors from biology, comparative literature, and Egyptology.
