in spring (“A Course Change,” Elms, July/August). Administrators favored their new system, while some undergrads liked the one, known as Mocha, created by a handful of grad students. The administration’s choice had functionality—in addition to letting students register online, it unified all the University’s administrative databases.

Mocha was mainly a search engine for finding classes. But students felt it had more pizzazz and offered greater search precision.

Now it looks as if the two systems have found a way to coexist. The administration’s system, called Banner, will continue to serve as the digital backbone, while students will use Mocha to search for classes. And in case some students are still confused, the course catalog will still be printed.
