May 21, 2007—As part of its national alumni magazine competition, the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) has selected "Attention, Wal-Mart Shoppers" by BAM Managing Editor Charlotte Bruce Harvey ’78 as one of the Best Articles of the Year. The story, which describes the collaboration between Ittleson Associate Professor of Environmental Studies Steven Hamburg and the giant retailer Wal-Mart to boost national sales of compact fluorescent bulbs, was the cover story of the March/April 2007 BAM. This is the second consecutive year that Harvey has won a medal in the Best Articles category.

CASE also awarded the BAM a silver medal in Periodical Staff Writing. This bring to twenty-four the number of national CASE medals the BAM has won since 2000.
