Edisa Weeks '83 and Homer Avila performed new and recent modern-dance pieces at the Merce Cunningham Studio in New York City in February. The New York Times described Weeks's "Until the Angel Comes," as "a delicious but puzzling dream dance for four squabbling, playful little girls." Weeks played one of those little girls and choreographed the piece as well. Fresh from her acclaimed performance as Hedda Gabler, Kate Burton '79 is again wowing Broadway critics and audiences - this time in The Elephant Man, which opened April 14 at the Royale. Burton plays Mrs. Kendal, who befriends John Merrick, the grotesquely deformed title character. At one point in the play, Mrs. Kendal removes her shirt for him and stands topless onstage. "Thank God the script didn't ask me to strip completely!" Burton told the New York Daily News. "I never thought that in my forties I'd be doing this."
