With great spring weather and wonderful events, we celebrated an outstanding sixtieth reunion. The weekend began with cocktails at class headquarters and a short bus ride for dinner at the Squantum Club on the Providence River, which was attended by eighty-three classmates and guests.

Bernie Bell and his wife, Claire, enjoyed the sunny Commencement morning.

After the opening reception we held a short business meeting. I was elected president; Richard Donovan was named vice president; Eleanor Mishel Leventhal was voted treasurer; and Florence Northcott Cox was elected secretary. The class then presented its gift of more than $250,000 to the University to athletic director David Roach. The evening concluded with Campus Dance and a reception at class headquarters.

Saturday morning brought a number of interesting forums, a men's lunch at the refectory and a women's lunch at Faunce House. These were followed by afternoon forums and a short walk to the Hope Club for a reception and dinner. The highlight was a surprise visit from President Ruth Simmons, who greeted each of the seventy-six class members and guests individually. The pops concert and another reception followed dinner.

Sunday began with an hour with President Simmons on Lincoln Field. She outlined some of her plans and introduced new key administrators. That was followed by an all-class memorial service in Sayles Hall, honoring those who have died since last year. A box lunch was served at class headquarters and, for those who were still willing, there was a trolley tour of Providence. We had an early supper at Cafe Nuovo on the river. After dinner we strolled the riverfront and watched WaterFire.

Monday morning a surprisingly large contingent of the class made the traditional march down the hill. Our hats were unquestionably the best in the march, just as our class was the best all weekend.
