Darren Lowe '92 was recently inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in Baltimore. Lowe holds the Brown career scoring record with 316 points, the third-highest total in NCAA history.

Led by Matt Gevelinger '09 and captains Levon Mock '08 and Jeff Schell '08, the wrestling team finished eighth at the EIWA Championship. Gevelinger placed third at 184 pounds, while Mock and Schell took fourth at 285 and 133 pounds, respectively. All three qualified for the NCAA Championship, the highest number of qualifiers since 2002.

All-Ivy star Damon Huffman ’08, seen here March 1st, led the Bears to a school-record nineteen wins this year. Huffman’s 132 points led the league in scoring. He finished as the eighth-highest scorer in Brown history and the all-time leader in three-point field goals.  
Fencers Adam Yarnell '10, Adam Pantel '10, and Randy Alevi '10 qualified for the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Championships, tying the Brown record of three qualifiers.

Gymnast Jennifer Sobuta '09 finished first in the uneven bars at the Ivy Classic with a score of 9.775, a new personal best and the fourth-highest score in school history. Sobuta also took second in the all-around competition.

Men's ice hockey captain Sean Hurley '08 earned first team All-Ivy honors for the second consecutive year, while Ryan Garbutt '09 won an honorable mention.

Women's ice hockey captain Hayley Moore '08 and assistant captain Nicole Stock '09 earned All-Ivy accolades. Moore was a first-team selection for the second time, while Stock was named to the second team after earning an honorable mention last season.

After tying for fourth place at the 2008 ECSC Regional Championship, the Brown skiing team earned a trip to the USCSA National Championship. Krista Consiglio '11 led the Bears by tying for ninth place overall, while Anna Bengtson '09 placed twelfth in the final standings.

Matt Britner '08 was selected by the New England Revolution in the third round of the Major League Soccer Super Draft in January. Laurent Manuel '08 was picked in the fourth round of the Supplemental Draft by the New York Red Bulls.

After placing second at the Ivy League Heps, six members of the women's track & field team earned All-Ivy recognition: Nicole Burns '09, Natasha Smith '11, Samantha Adelberg '11, Smita Gupta '08, Grace Watson '11 and Danielle Grunloh '10. David Howard '09 earned All-Ivy honors for the men.

At the 11th Pan American Maccabi Games in Buenos Aires in December, women's tennis player Marisa Schonfeld '11 won three individual gold medals, while softball pitcher Michelle Moses '09 helped the U.S. team earn gold by allowing just four hits over nineteen innings.

The women's swimming and diving team finished sixth at the Ivy Championships, while the men placed sixth at the EISL Championship, setting seven school records. —G.M.
