Elizabeth Hoover, a Brown graduate student who is of Mohawk/Mi'kmaq descent, teaches Linda Tavares Native American beading techniques at a two-hour workshop at the Haffenreffer Museum April 1. Hooper has been sewing pow-wow dance outfits for the past sixteen years, but she taught the children and adults in her class to make simpler fare: beaded pouches, barrettes, and decorative appliques to sew onto a purse or jacket.
