Following the discovery of extensive fire-code violations at the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology, Brown is closing the Bristol, Rhode Island, facility to the public on August 30. The museum has a satellite gallery in Manning Hall on campus, and the University announced plans to find a new location closer to campus for the entire collection. Brown purchased Providence's gold-domed Old Stone Bank building in 1995 and considered moving the Haffenreffer collections there, but in May the Corporation voted to sell that building.... Marisa Quinn, assistant to Ruth Simmons and a member of the president's cabinet, has been named to succeed Michael Chapman as vice president for public affairs and university relations; she will begin August 1. Before moving to the president's office, Quinn ran the office of government and community affairs.... On July 1, Margaret Klawunn took over as vice president for campus life and student services. Previously she was associate vice president for campus life and student services.
