In the late 1800s baseball reigned supreme. An early history observed that "When Brown wins a ball game, students are apt to suffer temporary abberation of the mind." After a 6–3 victory over Princeton, about 300 students reportedly paraded down College Hill in their nightclothes—yelling, blocking streetcars, and blowing horns.
