Martha's Legacy

July 19th, 2012

Thank you for honoring Martha Mitchell in your wonderful “Living History” piece (Here & Now, March/April). Martha’s encyclopedic mind was filled with all things Brown, a place she loved even though she attended Tufts. In 2011 she asked me to work in the Robinson Collection of Brown Athletics, where I still miss her intellect, quick wit, and feisty personality—she did not suffer fools gladly. Martha lives on in her pages, which I often read just to remind me of her. Martha inscribed my copy of her Encyclopedia Brunoniana with “Vive le Bear! Ki-yi-yi.” Vive Martha’s memory!
