Ten Bears with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher made the Academic All-Ivy team this winter as starters or key reserves: Duriel Hardy '10 (track & field), Adam Pantel '10 (fencing), Matt Mullery '10 (basketball), Daniel Ricketts '09 (swimming & diving), Matt Vokes '09 (ice hockey), Anna Bengtson '09 (skiing), Danielle Grunloh '10 (track & field), Charlotte Rose '09 (fencing), Charlotte Steel '09 (squash), and Nicole Stock '09 (ice hockey)....Men's lacrosse goalie Jordan Burke '09 was one of ten finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award; Burke was also named Ivy League Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.... Outfielder Steve Daniels '09 was selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2009 baseball division of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.... Lindsay Gottlieb '99 was named the Big West Coach of the Year after guiding the UC Santa Barbara women's basketball team to the conference title and the NCAA Tournament in her first season as a head coach.... Ben Harrison '07 helped Oxford defeat Cambridge in the 4.5-mile Boat Race, a Thames competition that's one of the most prestigious crew events of the year.... The New England Hockey Writers Association named Matt Vokes '09 the recipient of the 2009 Joe Tomasello Award as the Unsung Hero in New England.... Equestrians Liz Giliberti '10 and Kona Shen '10 qualified for IHSA Nationals.... Fencer Adam Pantel '10 finished 11th in the foil, and Jonathan Yu '11 placed 23rd at the NCAA National Championship; Pantel also earned honorable-mention All-America status as a result of his top-12 finish.... Gymnast Jennifer Sobuta '09 was named the ECAC Gymnastics Scholar-Athlete of the Year.... The women's skiing team finished 10th at the 2009 USCSA National Championships; Krista Consiglio '11 placed 15th overall after finishing 12th in the giant slalom and 31st in the slalom.
