UC-Berkeley second-year head coach Lindsay Gottlieb ’99 led the Golden Bears to their Final Four debut in St. Louis April 7, when the team lost to Louisville, 64–57, in a fiercely contested game.  Gottlieb was named Pac-12 Media Coach of the Year and was one of four finalists for Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year….Tommy Glenn ’14 competed in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly at the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, finishing 17th in the former and 23rd in the latter…. Rachel Speakman ’16 finished 16th at the 2013 NCAA Division I Zone A Diving Meet…. Kelly McGuire ’13 finished 10th in men’s épée and Teddy Weller ’13 took 13th overall in men’s saber, helping the Brown men’s fencing squad place 10th at the 2013 NCAA Championship…. Billy Watterson ’14 and Ophir Bernstein ’15 competed at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, Bernstein’s second trip to the tournament and Watterson’s first…. Matt Sullivan ’13 was named to the Capital One Academic All-America men’s basketball first team…. Peter Gibson ’13 finished first in the under-23 category at the CRASH-B Indoor Rowing World Championships, while Tessa Gobbo ’13 won the collegiate event and finished third overall in the women’s open heavyweight event…. Men’s basketball head coach Mike Martin ’04 was one of ten finalists for the 2013 Joe B. Hall award, presented annually to the top first-year coach in Division I college basketball…. Derek Aframe ’96, senior vice president at Octagon Worldwide, was named to the SportsBusiness Journal’s 2013 Forty Under 40 list…. Jon Okafor ’11 has signed a professional soccer contract with Myllykosken Pallo of the Finnish premier division.… Next fall, Brown football will play two night games at Brown Stadium. The Bears will host URI on October 5, followed by Princeton on October 19; both games will start at 6:00 p.m.… More than 100 Brown athletes participated for the first time in the Providence public schools’ Reading Week in April, joining the nationwide initiative to get children more turned on to reading.
