As a current student, campus organizer, and intern for the Resilient RI Act of 2014, I would like to clarify that student interest in standing against climate change was strong and very present before President Paxson’s call for significant initiatives (“Students vs. Climate Change,” Elms, May/June).
Brown students have been and continue to be involved in a variety of initiatives targeting climate change. Students stepping up against systemic problems is not contingent on the University’s position, but on their own perseverance and personal beliefs.
