By March 9 of the 2007 spring season, the men’s tennis team was 11–2 and appeared primed to capture its third straight Ivy title. But the Bears hit stiff league competition and dropped its first four conference matches to fall out of the running for the title. Nonetheless, the team has enjoyed a strong season from Dan HaNegby ’07, while of Basu Ratnam ’09 and Eric Thomas ’07 were at one point ranked fifteenth nationally among doubles teams.
Men’s Golf had possibly its most successful season ever this spring. The Bears took second at the Ivy championship, its best finish ever. The team was in third place after the first two rounds, but overtook Columbia and never looked back, finishing seven strokes in front of the third-place Lions. Larry Haertel ’08 shot a three-round 221(72, 76, 73), the second-best individual score in the championship. for second place individually. Earlier in the year, Haertel won the New England Golf Championship after he birdied the first hole of a sudden death playoff.
