When we left it last, students and administrators were atodds over a new online registration system the University put in place
in the spring (“A Course Change,” Elms, July/August). Administrators favored theirnew system, while some undergradsliked the one, known as Mocha, created by a handful of grad students. The administration’s choice had functionality—in addition to letting studentsregister online, it unified all the University’s administrative databases. Mocha was mainly a search engine forfinding classes. But students felt ithad more pizzazz and offered greatersearch precision.
Now it looks as if the two systemshave found a way to coexist. The administration’s system, called Banner, willcontinue to serve as the digital backbone, while students will use Mocha tosearch for classes. And in case some students are still confused, the coursecatalog will still be printed.
