On April 8, Ricardo Lagos, president of Chile from 2000 to 2006 and now a Brown professor at large, explored the contrasting social consequences of the recent catastrophic earthquakes in Chile and Haiti. Lagos's talk, "Responsibility, Relief, and Recovery in Chile and Haiti," discussed how the historical, social, political, and economic conditions of each country are affecting its ability to recover from the quakes.
