Karen Newman, dean of the Graduate School, said she will resign in May, keeping a promise she’d made when she took the job in 2002; after a research sabbatical in France, she’ll return to the faculty as a professor of English and comparative literature.... John Donoghue ’79 PhD, who chairs the neuroscience department, was nominated for a 2005 Rave Award from Wiredmagazine for his work on a brain-implantable system that might someday allow paralyzed people to move; Donoghue did not win, but neither did such nominees as Quentin Tarantino and Jon Stewart.... The Brown Concert Agency announced that Ben Folds will headline at Spring Weekend, then apologized after discovering the concert will take place on the first night of Passover.... Former President Bill Clinton accepted an invitation from the College Democrats to deliver a policy address on campus April 29.
