Financial Aid

February 28th, 2013

Thanks for showcasing my work at my start-up, Takamoto Biogas (“Can Dreams Come True?” January/February). One of the key factors that allowed me to start a company straight out of college is that, thanks to Brown’s financial aid, I had no student loans to pay off. That was huge. Had I been forced to pay off loans, I would have had to get a real job. Friends from high school wanted to join me at my company, but because they went to a different college and had to make huge monthly loan repayments, they just couldn’t live on the small salaries of a start-up. Thanks to Brown for being need blind.
