The former Urban Studies building, 29 Manning, is being torn down to make way for a new engineering facility. As a send-off, department chair Dietrich Neumann and postdoctoral fellow Stefano Bloch enlisted local street artist Mark Pennisten to create a graffiti mural in the early 1990s New England style. Bloch, who has studied Providence graffiti subculture, gave current urban studies concentrators a spray-painting tutorial so they could add their names.
