We understand rain—as the first class to sign up for “modes of thought” classes, in the rain, and the last class to graduate inside Meehan Auditorium, due to rain. Guess what? It rained again!

The weather notwithstanding, 106 of our classmates returned to Providence for our 30th reunion. We enjoyed a great dinner party on Friday evening, under a tent of course, at the home of classmates Nancy Cassidy and Jeffrey Schreck. Then we strolled the three blocks to Campus Dance, where some of us danced under our umbrellas.

A momentary break in the weather on Saturday allowed us to pose for our class photo on the steps of Faunce House before lunch in the Petteruti Lounge. That was followed by our class seminar, led by classmate Steven R. Smith, on “Faith-Based Organizations and Their New Role in Public Life.” The socializing continued with a buffet dinner at the newly renovated Verney-Woolley Dining Hall, a.k.a. the V-Dub. Many moved on to the pops concert, which was outstanding. Harry Connick Jr. and his Big Band rocked the Providence Performing Arts Center.

Sunday’s many events included an address by President Ruth Simmons. In the afternoon some classmates went to the convention center for an exhibit on Rhode Island’s cultural heritage while others attended wonderful concerts by Brown’s outstanding

a cappella groups. Later we socialized at Jim Hahn’s law office over dessert and champagne before going outside to stroll along the Providence River and enjoy WaterFire’s amazing blend of scents, sights, and sounds.

Many of us stayed for the Commencement March and to cheer on the graduating seniors. Every trip through the Van Wickle Gates is a memorable one. Those of us present will never forget our 30th, even after we dry out. Thanks to all who joined us and please know that we missed those who could not be with us. See you in 2008.
