Anti Pro Choice

March 26th, 2008

I am appalled that Leah Kaplan '88 needs to describe herself as "adamantly pro-choice" while describing her fertility treatments (Alumni P.O.V., January/February). Does that choice include support for partial-birth abortion? Euthenasia? Perhaps Kaplan thinks it is chic to describe herself in this way, but with sonograms allowing us to see our own babies in our wombs, many of us don't agree. Kaplan should realize that she, too, started out as an embryo unless, like Athena (or Gloria Steinem), she popped fully formed out of the head of Zeus. To quote from Dr. Seuss, "A person is a person no matter how small."
