Haiti's Last Hopes

May 6th, 2011

"Haiti's Voice" was a poignant and touching article that alluded to Haiti's problems (January/February). Talented and energetic Haitians have left or are trying to leave the country, leaving behind little infrastructure and almost no leadership other than corrupt politicians siphoning off most of the aid before it gets to the key projects or the needy people. Understandably, the world is well aware of the impossibility of really helping Haiti until the people step up and overthrow those taking all the aid dollars. Only a benign Castro-type dictator or a return of the talented and energetic people who have left will change this hellhole of humanity.
